Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

How could they miss that, they gripe.
Why can’t they see?
Who’s training these guys,
don’t they have a TV?

This isn’t rocket science,
the box is right there.
Could it be that they don’t know,
or not really care?

Perhaps they made a bet
or need to get their eyes checked.
Maybe something’s wrong at home
and their life is a wreck.

Climb Where You’re At: Jasper Mountain

Posted on October 24, 2025October 24, 2025

The plan was to climb Mount Hayes, but the route I picked was blocked. I didn’t know much about the area, and I thought one of the roads I saw on satellite images was a way through. Turns out it was a hydroelectric power station on the Androscoggin River that was off-limits to hikers. I…
