Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

Bears, Hunters, Hornets, Oh My!

Posted on September 1, 2025September 2, 2025

It’s been an unusually active bear season this year, so when I arrived at the Spring Road Trailhead for Pond Parish today—a trail I’ve probably hiked over a hundred times—I had a brief thought that maybe today is the day I run into a bear. Mind you, I’ve never seen one out there, but I…

Stop Waiting and Go

Posted on August 30, 2025August 30, 2025

Sometimes, for the big stuff, we wait too long. We wait for “the right time,” but it never comes. Or we wait for others to be able to join us on that special trip, but the calendars never align. Or they do eventually, but years after you wanted to go. Similarly, for us climbers, we…

Hiking Solo vs. With Friends

Posted on August 29, 2025August 29, 2025

Cutting right to the chase, I love both, and there are obvious benefits to both, whether you’re a writer or not. If you’re with friends, you get those connection points—those laughs and stories—that fill your cup for weeks to come. They leave you feeling bonded, especially if you overcome something big together like climbing a…
