Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

Breathwork for the Climbing

Posted on August 26, 2025November 20, 2025

A Window for Bald Peak

Posted on August 25, 2025December 14, 2025

I can’t tell you how many times
he passed by it,
going about
the business of the day.

As if his business
was business,
and not school,
or the words he wished to say.

Kicking up the gravel
leading in,
he’d offer a nod to
big ideas and town works,

But never took the bait
to explore
the corners
where panaceas lurk.

That is, until,
he heard the thrum of the crickets.
That gentle whirring
in the summer heat.

Peak Life

Posted on August 22, 2025August 22, 2025

There’s a new expression going around lately that I find a bit jarring. The first time I heard it was when my kids and I were looking at old pictures of them, and one of them said, “That was peak life, right there.” The insinuation was that those were the good ol’ days. The days…
