Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

Where Courage Comes From

Posted on July 17, 2025July 21, 2025

I was always told it lies in the heart.
Take heart boys, get your courage up.

is the place where it all begins.

But I’ve known the heart to be weak.
That it loves too much. Feels too much.
Has too much guilt and too much sorrow.
That its skin is rather thin.

Hatching Plans with the B.I.L.

It’s time. Time to get out there. My kids are older, and his are getting through the toddler phase. I’m not getting any younger, and he’s not likely to be getting any more sleep for a few years, so there’s no point in waiting anymore. It’s time to go. But where? We thought about Iceland,…

Kamikaze Bugs in the Belknap Range

Posted on July 14, 2025September 24, 2025

I forgot the bug spray. I thought it was in the truck when I left the house yesterday and failed to double-check. Why, oh why, didn’t I double-check? For the better part of the six miles it takes to do the Mack—Klem loop, ascending two of the twelve major peaks in the Belknap Range, I…
