Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

Peakbaggers = Truth-Seekers

Posted on July 11, 2025September 25, 2025

I suppose you could call me a peakbagger, because when I like to hike, I usually want to head up a mountain I can summit. I can’t help it. Seeing the earth from a different vantage point allows me to hit the reset button on life better than any other tool in my toolbox. But…

The Final Ripple

Posted on July 10, 2025July 15, 2025

Was that the one?
The final ripple?
Of rebirth? Of… birth?
And if it was, what now?
Where shall I go?
Where shall I take
this patchwork of spirit and body
that grew back together?
It almost doesn’t seem real.
There’s too much to remember.
Too much to forget.
Too much to correct,
while knowing all
that we can’t.
Maybe that’s why it happened—
so I’d stop.
Stop believing
we each get one glorious river,
running one course,
until it empties into the ocean
where all rivers meet.
That all of it is a matter
of choosing your vessel
and deciding to get on board.

One Thing A Day

One Thing A Day

Posted on July 9, 2025July 9, 2025

Got a little distracted there with 4th of July vacation, but now I’m back, ready to pick up where I left off. Before the little summer break, I started drafting this post and figured it’s a good place to start back up. Especially since it’s exactly the modus operandi I’ll be taking to jump back…

Mountain Valley

Not the Mountain

Posted on June 25, 2025June 25, 2025

So, you did it, but were you there?
Or was it all about the list?
When breathing in the mountain air,
did you forget why you exist?

Or that achievements fade from view,
and however great, all forget,
making the only thing that’s true
is the example that you set.
