Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

Peace Upon Us

Posted on June 16, 2025June 16, 2025

In the foothills of western Connecticut lies a place of peace, one whose equal is hard to find in New England—and quite possibly anywhere else in the United States. Adults Need Sports, Too!

Posted on June 10, 2025July 15, 2025

I’ve been spending a lot of time watching my kids play sports lately, and honestly, I love it. But to tell the whole truth, there are times when I’ve wrestled with the sheer extent of it. I used to feel like I was spending way too much time on the sidelines, but since I’ve recently…

Who Are You, Arthur Josephson?

Posted on June 6, 2025June 6, 2025

Back in 2016, when I started getting a little more serious about finding new mountains to climb, I found a great website called Peakbagger.com. It compiles lists of mountains, complete with elevations and topographic maps to help you determine actual elevation gain. It also serves as a helpful tool to track where you’ve been. I…

A Slug on the Mountain

Posted on June 6, 2025June 6, 2025

Think of all the generations it must have taken
to drag your lousy carcass up here.
What are you doing?
Where do you think you’re going to go?

I almost stepped on you—are you unaware?
I would have, too, had I not been minding my steps,
halfway up a mountain
you’re not supposed to be.
