It doesn’t come from the good times,
victories or rewards,
or from answered prayers submitted
by genuine appeal.
It’s not found in the lofty goals
you are running towards,
or when the inconceivable
comes calling you to kneel.
It’s not obtained from the good deeds
brought forth by fellow man,
or from a generous spirit
that restores your lost zeal.
It comes from the giving over,
having done all you can,
knowing logic and rationale
is not what helped you heal.

Poetry On Healing
This poem appears in both the In Verse and In Health sections of this website, because it captures one of the mindsets that helped me heal when I was going against an untreatable diagnosis. I hope the words are helpful if you are recovering from, or working towards, overcoming your own health obstacle.
