Warmer Winters

Posted on January 4, 2023January 4, 2023
You've noticed it, haven't you?
The lakes that no longer freeze?
The January rains?
Has it caused your mind to flinch
and consider
the possibility of different climates?
Of warmer winters?

It's hard to discard this sensation
as a seasonal whim,
and perhaps doing so would be of stoic
but cowardly design.
For if I can ignore it and let it pass,
absently upon my mind,
then should I not expect to pass
absently upon the earth?
