Author: Matt Larson

With my first book, 4000s by 40, released this fall, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing, and am excited to continue the journey of storytelling with future projects—so much so that the day after I published 4000s by 40, I began my next work. Much of my inspiration comes from nature. My early love for the ocean, found on the South Shore of Massachusetts, has transitioned into a deep passion for the mountains here in New Hampshire, and I wanted to share that with my first book. If you’d like to connect or have any inquiries, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook at wanderingmatt8. Happy reading!

The How

Posted on January 9, 2023October 20, 2025

You’ve got your reasons, everyone does. That’s not the story. Though we read book after book telling us that if it were not for the reasons, the hero would never make it. But two people can drum up the same why, feel the same why, the same way, and end at different stops along the…

The Only Vessel

The odds suggested it would never sail
and carry the plans drafted on the hard,
but against lightning, hurricanes and hail,
it proved itself deserving of regard.

and spittle keeps blowing through the porthole,
but just when you think it’s about to sink,
the gunnels lift and it regains control.

Silence

Silence
can terrify
so many unprepared,
who were unaware that the sun
can possibly rise twice in the same day,
but in time hands spin, seasons change,
all bringing into view
a friend found in
silence

A Trail Appears

Posted on January 5, 2023October 20, 2025

How could in all my plodding of these streets,
I never noticed its presence before?
And never knew that by keeping my feet,
I was walking past Sanctuary’s door?

But today, up there on the old town road,
I came upon a sign, don’t know how new.
It called me down a path I never toed,
And without Moment’s pause, away I flew.
